The best part of being a children's photographer is being able to witness a child's growth through the years. I photographed this little lady for her first birthday, and recently for her second. She has changed so much since the first time I met her, and has grown even more beautiful. I fully enjoyed our private tea party in the back yard as her birthday party guests were arriving.
It had been rainy all week, so we put down a waterproof blanket and covered it with a sheet. We brought out her entire bin of stuffed animals and I was introduced to each one as I pulled them out and found them a seat. Big Bear had the seat of honor next to our gracious hostess.
Tea was poured all around. Then the party really started. It's not often I see such a developed imagination in a two year old. She was so intent on pouring tea, I think she forgot all about me.
She was having so much fun she refused to do any other poses. We tried to convince her to sit on a small stool for just one shot. I even sat Big Bear next to her, but apparently the tea party could not go on without her. We gave up on other poses and I tried to find other ways to get variety.
From the beginning of the tea party, it was obvious that Big Bear was a special friend. We even caught some snuggles and hugs.
Once the birthday guests all arrived, it was time for some group family shots, which our birthday girl was less than enthusiastic about. She couldn't quite understand why she had to pose in the backyard when there was partying to be done. Considering all the excitement around her, she really did fantastic. Even if we did have to give her a pink heart shaped balloon.
I can't wait to see how much this beautiful little girl grows over the next year of her life. My hope is that I will have the opportunity to photograph her every year. Maybe one day I'll even photograph her child. That is my dream for my business...to photograph families through the generations.
